Samsung Confirms Chrome OS Netbook

2010-02-14_16

Chrome  OS netbooks are not really big news. Google released a list of Chrome OS partners back in July of 09. They're under development at Dell, Acer, Asus and Lenovo just to name a few, and now Samsung has joined the public list of supporters.

It's interesting to note that the companies that partnered closely with Canonical on Ubuntu have a small edge in making it to market first. According to the article below Google and Canonical have collaborated on Chrome OS.

Though Chrome OS is near to an order of magnitude smaller than Ubuntu, I have found similarities in the subsystem in my own examination. It is likely not just a public relations partnership.

It appears that Google's mission to organize the world's information and Canonical's mission to realize the potential of free software and insure availability to everyone are aligned in Chrome OS.

This is great for the consumer and valuable leadership in an industry previously led by Microsoft. Everyone has to play or risk being left behind.
